Pendrell Hall wedding – Sarah and Dean

Sarah and Deans wedding at Pendrell Hall will always be one that sticks in my mind as a wedding with a bit of everything. Fun, emotion, laughter… all the necessary ingredients for a perfect wedding day.

Instead of my usual waffling on about the wedding I’m just going to talk about a few moments from the day that really stand out in my mind.

After the wedding ceremony

Although this was a summer wedding the couple played safe and had an indoor ceremony. The morning room is just as beautiful ceremony location as the outdoor option, and it’s a little easier for your guest to hear you say your vows!

Sarah and Dean went slightly against the usual order of the day after their ceremony. Usually the staff at Pendrell guide the couple to the bar area after the ceremony for them to have a few moments on their own while the guests are led outside for confetti. This is lovely as it gives the newly weds a few minutes alone before being whisked away by the guests during the drinks reception. However, Sarah and Dean decided they’d like to stand by the door and greet their guests as they left the ceremony room. I really liked this as the guests were genuinely so excited to see the newlyweds and give them huge hugs. I think the couple caught the guests at the peak of their excited-ness (is that a word?) and it made a lovely moment. It doesn’t matter which way you do it, just do it your way!

Guiness

Another thing I’ll always remember about this wedding is Sarah and Deans Guinness moustaches being picked up by Guinness’ social marketing team and put on their instagram account. Imagine a photo from your wedding being used by an awesome company like Guinness. That was really cool. It’s also cool how the couple have that fun side and don’t mind a photo with Guinness moustaches being put out there. Some people can take themselves too seriously, but generally they’re not my clients, the people who book me are fun and easy going like Sarah and Dean.

Emotion

I often talk about the importance of the natural photos and how they capture a moment in time. Sarah had a moment with Deans mum just before the wedding breakfast. They were both teary eyed with happiness and Deans mum was clearly overjoyed he’d found someone who makes him so happy. This was an amazing moment to see and I know I have to capture it. But that was more difficult than anticipated as I had to absolutely make sure I didn’t distract them and spoil the moment. And, as the moment took place in the fairly small bar area, it was tricky to navigate.

Fortunately my experience came through and I was able to capture the moment discreetly enough I didn’t ruin it. I’ve put a sequence of shots in this blog post to show how documentary photos can link together to form a story.
