The bloke behind the camera

I’m Cris and I take story-telling pictures at weddings!

(But you probably already know that, so here’s a bit more about me….)

Cats, dogs, chickens and kids

I live in Stafford with my wife Katie, our kids Ava and Finley, plus two dogs, three cats and three chickens (it was four but Mr Fox paid a visit).

My kids are my driving force inspiring me to do my best, keep motivated and always treat people as you wish to be treated. They also drive me absolutely crazy and make me need the odd spiced rum here and there. I have a huge weakness for marzipan and could happily eat a whole block in one sitting.

I’ve always been fairly creative. In my teens I played bass in a band and in my 20’s I used to travel up and down the country DJing at various different clubs. However it was discovering photography that really struck a chord with me and I soon realised my passion was in photographing people (maybe because I’m naff at Landscapes!).

Like a bargain basement Bear Grylls

My son and I love camping, bushcraft and survival skills like foraging and cooking on the campfire. Katie and Ava go along with it too but I’m not sure whether they enjoy it or just tolerate it to keep the boys happy. For a lot of dads their proud moment comes when their son rides a bike or scores a goal, for me it was when Finn made fire all by himself using his knife and fire-steel (yes mother, all safely under supervision)!

Along with the bushcraft, as a family we love the outdoors in general. Whenever we get chance we go to our caravan in Wales where we spend time paddle-boarding, surfing and enjoying the beaches before heading out for a pub lunch and couple of beers. Katie and I love clay pigeon shooting, her 10 year anniversary present was her every own 12 gauge shotgun (thats a risk isn’t it!)

It’s because of my love for the outdoors that I plant a tree via the national trust for each and every couple who books me to shoot their wedding. I started this initiative late in 2021 and it’s great to know my business is doing something to make even a small difference for the future.

Me at weddings

Your wedding isn’t about me. I’m not one of those photographers who tries to be ‘the big I am’ or command all the attention. That won’t help me capture moments. But at the same time I’m not shying away on the shadows or hiding behind bushes. The way to capture moments is to blend in like a guest, be part of the wedding and a friendly face.

I’m super calm, chilled and friendly. Over the course of 12 years I’ve been lucky enough to have been entrusted by over 600 couples to capture their wedding, which means I’ve got the experience to handle most situations, be that photography related or generally wedding related.

Think of me like one of your guests who has a job to do on the day. I’m there to help you, celebrate with you and support you. Check out some feedback to see what my lovely couples think. One bride once said “you have such a calming energy”….I’m not sure the wife and kids would agree but I’ll take that!
