Awesome wedding activities and entertainment for the reception
For the bride and groom the wedding goes super quickly but, sometimes for the guests, there can occasionally appear to be some long gaps in the day. Planning some activities or games throughout the day is a great way to keep them entertained, get them mingling and keep the party vibe going all day. Not only that but most of the activities give me something awesome to photograph!
Lawns games and wedding activities make brilliant fun photos
You’ll have booked me because you like natural photos. The best time for natural photos is straight after the ceremony when everyone is buzzing for you and giving you big hugs. After that the reception can quieten off a little and I go searching for the moments, such as people laughing or the guys having a banter. But theres only so many of these you might want, games provide another dimension to the photos. people get silly, they get competitive and the photos are much more fun!
What are the best wedding activities?
I guess we can split this into different sections, you’ve got games like giant Jenga, lawn games, golf etc. And you’ve got entertainment like singing waters and magicians. I find the best wedding activities and games are the ones that get people involved, gets them moving and gets them interacting. I’ll list some of my favourites below.
Giant Jenga
This all time classic needs no introduction

Bucking Bronco
Not one of the more obvious choices but I’m pleased to see its becoming increasingly popular

Crocket
The classics are still running strong

Crazy Golf
Just don’t let the serious golfers take over 😉 !

Magicians
One of my favourites for that gap between the meal and the first dance (known in the industry as “the lull”)

Bean Bag Toss/ corn hole
Another classic lawn game

Tin can alley
The guys always seem to get really competitive with this

Singing waiters
Before I first saw singing waiters I thought there can be nothing worse. I was so so wrong, they are amazing!

Alpacas
Yep, more and more weddings have alpacas visit them!

Shot-Ski
Remember to drink responsibly…or not.

Crafts
This is brilliant for those DIY weddings, you can use the decorations to further decorate your venue

Laser clay pigeon shooting
Just let me have a go, please!

Wack a Mole
I’ve seen some great home made versions

Ring Toss
Use bottles or buy a kit from amazon

Tennis/badminton etc
Another game to get the blood pumping and see the competitive edge come out

Welly Wanging
Small children should probably stand clear

A good old game of Mr and Mrs
My advise is not make it too long and don’t be afraid for the questions to get a little risqué

Space Hoppers
Make sure you do this on grass!

Can you thinkof anything I’ve missed? Leave a comment below and I’ll see if I’ve captured it at a wedding before.
If you’d like to have real, natural photos from your wedding please get in touch and tell me about your plans.
