Slaters wedding photographer – Laura and Matt
Slaters wedding photography
Theres a little more to this wedding than first meets the eye, let me tell you the story…
I’m a member of the Guild of Photographers, an organisation which promotes good practice in photography by running competitions, awarding qualifications (I’m a qualified member) and offers support and advise to its members, amongst other things. Its a very friendly organisation and I’m on my second year as a member. One Sunday evening I had a surprise call from Steve, the owner of the Guild, who explained his daughter was getting married and she’d like me to shoot it.. GULP… I nearly said I was booked (which wasn’t true) but then I decided I would rise to the challenge and arranged to meet with the couple in the coming weeks.
When I met Laura and Matt they were a lovely couple who I warmed to straight away and after they explained they wanted a very relaxed coverage I knew it was a wedding I would enjoy, Ive worked as a Staffordshire wedding photographer at Slaters country inn several times so its a venue I know well.
So theres the story, now onto the day itself; I arrived at Laura’s mums house for preparations and was greeted by a friendly house full who were drinking bucks fizz and making oat cakes – the perfect start to a wedding day!
The ceremony itself was held in a lovely small church in Fulford local to Matts parents, it had been decorated splendidly and many familiar faces had come out to see the couple tie the knot, Matt was almost like a celebrity getting married in his village, it was great. Unfortunately the vicar requested I shoot from the rear of the church but I still managed to capture some great emotions. After the ceremony we made our way to Slaters via a few local villages which make great photo opportunities.
After group photographs I spend some time capturing the guests enjoying the day before making their way in for the wedding breakfast. During the speeches Laura surprised Matt and the guests by getting up and singing a Ellie Goulding song, and she sang it beautifully. During the evening gusts were kept entertained by an amazing mobile casino.
This was a great wedding at Slaters country inn and I’m glad I was booked as their wedding photographer as everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
