duck race at a wedding

A shot I love – Duck race!

A shot I love from Rachael and Richards wedding

A couple of weeks ago I had a wedding with a difference; I won’t say too much here as I’ll be writing a detailed blog in a couple of weeks but when I say it was a wedding with a difference I’m talking celebrity vicar (kind of), duck races, climbing to the top of the church tower, shooting in the rain and a generally just a wedding with a different feel. To quote the bride, Rachael, “really, this is a family p*ss up with a wedding in the middle“..you just know thats going to be a great day!

So lets talk about this shot and why I love it.. for me this shot sums up Rachael and Richards wedding perfectly. It was fun and all the usual rules went out the window. Generally I book cool brides who don’t worry about getting their dress dirty but this is the first time we’ve been in a river!

So whats happening here, well the picture tells the story but in a nutshell after the speeches all the guests made their way outside for a duck race in the stream at The Old Vicarage in Retford. The wining duck was plucked from the river by the happy couple. Usually the couple would stand on the bank and get whichever comes closer but this these guys wanted to be in the thick of it..literally!

So what I love is how it sum up the day, how the couple were completely fearless about getting their clothes wet, having fun was more important, it was a brilliant idea for the guests to enjoy and everyone to get involved.

As I say I’ll be blogging this wedding real soon so keep your eyes peeled to see more of the craziness.
