The Old Vicarage at Elkesley wedding photography
I recently had the great please of shooting a really fun wedding that had some really cool, personal touches.. Rachael and Richard had their wedding at The Old Vicarage at Elkesley, a really quirky and unusual venue geared up for relaxed outdoor receptions. This was a new venue for me, I’d not worked there before but after doing my research online I could see it was going to be a good one.
Weddings at The Old Vicarage
As a venue the Old Vicarage is really cool, there is a shallow stream running through the middle with rope swings, a waterwheel and a little bridge. The owners are super relaxed and kids (both small kids and big kids!) are welcome to float down the stream in a rubber ring and go paddling. All these little activities really give me something to photograph and for the guests its great being able to mess about and have fun rather than just sit and drink.
I was super excited to shoot at The Old Vicarage but first let me take you back to when Rachael booked me. I’m a member of Fearless Photographers, an exclusive association who pushes the boundaries of wedding photography and this is how Rachael found me. So I knew she wasn’t just looking for any old wedding pictures, or that her wedding would be any old wedding….in fact she had me hooked when she referred to the wedding as “a family piss up with a wedding in the middle”.. now thats going to be a great day!
Gogglebox
Why am I talking about Gogglebox… Well the vicar who conducted the ceremony was Kate Bottley who is the vicar on Gogglebox. She’s really cool, very dry sense of humour and really modern. It a shame all vicars can’t be a little more like her as she really did add to the overall experience of the wedding. Kate wasn’t in anyway a show off or anything like that, she was just really relaxed and I think more people were able to engage with her due to her modern approach.
A duck race on your wedding day
So Ive already written a blog about this but in the middle of the wedding there was a duck race..and why not. One of my favourite shots from the day was taken during the duck race. A shot that sums up the day where the couple were having a great time, not worrying about their expensive clothes and dress getting wet, paddling in the river catching ducks. Perfect!
I could talk all day about the wedding but you’re here to see some pictures from Rachel and Richards wedding at The Old Vicarage in Elkesley. Don’t forget to contact me if you’re getting married and are looking for a wedding photographer!
