Natasha and Phil’s elegant Sandon Hall wedding

It was an absolute please to photograph Tasha and Phil’s wedding at Sandon Hall in Staffordshire. The couple booked me as I’d previously photographed Tashas bridesmaid, jess, wedding. Its always a great honour to be referred to photograph a friends wedding, and you feel the pressure too!

Sandon Hall wedding venue

I’ve worked at Sandon Hall many times over the years. It’s such a stunning venue that never ceases to amaze me. The huge grand building set upon acre after acre of well kept grounds really takes your breath away. It’s one of those venue where you could spend days taking photographs inside and out and still find new spots to use. Obviously with my style of photography being natural I don’t spend hours on posted shots, so its good to be familiar with the venue and know the best spots to use.

Wedding ceremony at Sandon Hall

Tasha and Phil decided to break the mould a little here. They actually had a private registry office legal wedding to enable them to have a celebrant, in this case a friend, conduct the ceremony at Sandon hall. I’m pleased to see this becoming increasingly popular in recent years. The benefit is it gives you much more freedom of the format and time of the ceremony and ultimately you can have it virtually however you like, so can be much more personal with less restrictions.

After the ceremony the couple spend some time mingling with their guests before we headed out for photos. We used some of the brilliant spots at the back of the venue for couples portraits and decided to use the front of the venue for the family groups. These really looked great and the setting suited the black dinner jacket and Tasha stunning elegant wedding dress perfectly.

The couple had booked. singer to entertain during the evening reception and a band was waiting to kick off the first dance. I really enjoy live music at weddings and it was great to see everyone dancing to the singer getting ready to tear up the dancefloor later…and that they certainly did!
