Helen and Chris’ DIY wedding
Aa I’m sure you’ll remember we spent a lot 2021 going in and out of covid restrictions until the full opening up in the summer. Helen and Chris decided to have an amazing DIY wedding still keeping within the restrictions at the time.
The couple must have put a huge amount of thought and planning into the day as, even although we had to visit four locations across two counties the day really ran like clockwork, which is very impressive considering there was no event manger or coordinator keeping their eye on timings.
The morning started at Mercia Marina in Derbyshire where Helen was getting ready. She’d booked a beautiful lodge which proved to be an ideal base for their morning preparations.
Wedding at Burton Registry office
I caught up with Chris shortly before the ceremony at Burton upon Trent registry office. There were some fairly tight restrictions still in force at the registry office but the registrars did a fantastic job in ensuring the ceremony was as normal as possible.
After the ceremony guests mingled and congratulated the newlyweds in the sunshine before the real fun started. Everyone piled onto a red double decker bus to set off for there next location, Pascal’s restaurant at the Old Vicarage in Burton.
Pascals restaurant Burton upon Trent
The staff at Pascals had really pulled out all the stops for the couple and you’d be forgiven for thinking the restaurant is a regular wedding venue. The food was absolutely divine and the team had prepared the room to the highest standard.
Following the speeches it was time to board the big red bus once more and head to the final location, a garden party at Helen and Chris’ house.
DIY wedding
The couple had done an amazing job preparing the garden for their guests; bunting, garden games and oodles and food and drink was waiting for the guests to arrive. Everyone got stuck into the garden games and there was a great atmosphere throughout the night.
This wedding was a prime example that you don’t always have to book an expensive venue to have an amazing day, careful planning and keen craft skills are all you need for a brilliant DIY wedding.
