Grangefields wedding photographer

I was absolutely made up when Sarah and Rhys booked me to be their Grangefileds wedding photographer. I love shooting at new venues as it really gets the creativity flowing as I work out the best spots and come up with ideas somewhere new.

Grangefields is a relatively new venue owned by the fabulous Cripps and co company who own Shustoke Barns, Hazel Gap and Thorpe Garden to name but a few. All the companies venues are fitted out to the highest standards, and the food and staff are both fantastic.

Grangefields wedding venue

Grangefields is a converted farm and as you can expect there are loads of original features such as old brick barns and remnants of farm yard buildings, all of which make excellent photo opportunities.

Grangefields wedding venue is located in Long Lane, Derbyshire on the historic Trusley Estate. With a capacity of over 150 guests for both the ceremony and reception its certainly a venue capable of hosting most weddings. Even although the venue can accommodate larger weddings I certainly didn’t get the impression smaller parties would appear a bit lost in the venue. being made of of several separate rooms and areas the venue is more than capable of hosting more intimate weddings.

Sarah and Rhys wedding at Grangefields

The day started out at Sarah’s parents house where she was getting ready. It’s always great to start the story with some morning preparations. It isn’t just about the make up going on but its also a chance for me to capture dad struggling with the ribbons on the car, which I was lucky enough to capture here! Sarah had a great bunch of girls helping her to get ready and cold see from the start they were all up for a fun day.

I caught up with Rhys at Immaculate Conception and Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Stone, which is where the couple had opted to have their ceremony. This wedding was still during covid times so there were a few small restrictions in place but I was very grateful to the priest who gave me good freedom to shoot the ceremony from different angles.

Its always good to capture some emotion during the ceremony and this wedding didn’t disappoint at all.

Grangefields wedding reception

After the ceremony it was time to head on to the venue to get the party started. I managed to arrive a bit sooner than the guests, which gave me chance to have a quick look around before everyone arrived.

I really enjoyed capturing guests mingling inside the venue. Although it can be dark in places there is some gorgeous window light giving some interesting highlights and shadow, which are great for documentary photography if you know how to use them.

The wedding breakfast is held in a large barn and with a show kitchen, you could see the meat being slow roasted over open fires which really is as amazing as it sounds. The speeches didn’t disappoint and kept the emotion coming when Sarah’s dad and Rhys made their speeches.

After the couples first dance the party really got started. I think everyone was really up for it post lockdown because the dance-floor was jam packed until the minute I left.

This was an amazing wedding at Grangefields and I’m so grateful the couple booked me to capture their day. If you’d like a relaxed and natural style of photography at your wedding please do get in touch to check my availability and have a chat about your day.
