Spring wedding at The Ashes Barns
Louise and Leigh’s Spring wedding at The Ashes Barns
Early in the spring I had the pleasure of photographing Louise and Leigh’s big day. The couple chose The Ashes Barns in Endon, a fantastic rustic location to celebrate their wedding. I shoot at The Ashes quite regularly due to being a member of the “dream Team” at sister venue, Pendrell Hall. The Ashes is one fo my favourite Staffordshire venues having such natural charm and extensive grounds.
Bridal prep
When I arrived at The Ashes Louise was in the bridal prep suite with her bridesmaids getting ready. The make up artist and hair dresser were making everyone look their best. You could feel the excitement build as the ceremony drew closer. I also caught up with Leigh at the venue and took a few shots of him relaxing with his groomsmen ahead of the main event.
Wedding ceremony at The Ashes Barns
Louise and Leigh’s wedding ceremony at The Ashes was fantastic. I’ll never forget the look Louise gave to Leigh as she neared the end of the isle. The ceremony was full of laughter and emotion as the couple exchanged rings and personal promises. A close friend gave a reading which also helps to make the ceremony that little bit more personal.
After the ceremony the guests moved outside for the drinks reception. In the weeks leading up to the wedding Louise discussed the back up plan in the event of poor weather but our fears were unfounded. The sun was shining and it was an unusually warm spring day with some glorious light.
Wedding photography at The Ashes Barns
Louise and Leigh shared some special moments with the guest after the ceremony before we make use of the stunning grounds for photographs. I never take more time than necessary on formal photography, instead I spend my time focussing on natural moments to tell the story of the wedding. You can read more about my approach to wedding photography here.
The couple chose to do their speeches before the meal and it was great to see Louise and her mum break tradition and say a few words of their own. Who says only the men should get to talk!
Following the cake and first dance the band definitely pulled it off, the dance floor got crowded and everyone was showing off their best moves.
I really enjoyed photographing Louise and Leigh’s special day. If you’re planning a wedding and would like to book a photographer who focusses on the moments please do get in touch.
