During mid March I had the pleasure of shooting Laura and Mikes wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire. Rowton castle is a 17th centuary listed building set amongst nearly 20 acres of grounds. I’ve worked at Rowton many times over the years and it stands out as one of my favourite venues to work as a wedding photographer due to the variety of fantastic photographic opportunities available both inside and outside.
The grounds themselves always look stunning and its great to make use of the lawns, old walls, pond area and the wedding “temple” which has been built in the past couple of years accommodate outdoor weddings.
When I arrived at Rowton on the morning of the wedding Laura was getting ready with a room full of excited family and friends all helping each other with hair and make up and there was certainly an air of excitement. Laura and Mike have two gorgeous children who are always really happy to smile for the camera and get up to a little mischief for some great shots.
After bridal prep I headed downstairs to see Mike and the boys as they were eagerly awaiting the ceremony. The ceremony room had been skilfully decorated to the couples taste with LED candles, flowers and birdcages and some huge LOVE balloons, it was bling-tastic and looked amazing.
After the ceremony we headed outside to do some photos, it was a nice dry day but pretty cold so we didn’t spend too long but still managed to get soem great shots around the stunning grounds of Rowton Castle. There was a fantastic caricaturist entertaining the guests and this gave me change to capture some great shots of the guests.
After the wedding breakfast there was some hilarious speeches by the father of the bride (AKA Dave the rave!), Mike the groom and his two best men – who performed world class character assassination..and finally Mike and Laura’s daughter make a wonderful and confident speech which didn’t leave a dry eye n the house.
