Emma and Joe’s wedding The Moat House

I had great fun photographing at Emma and Joe’s wedding early in the summer. The Moat House Acton Trussell was a perfect choice for their wedding as the happy couple wanted a very relaxed affair. I’ve worked at The Moat many times, its a great venue, I even got married there myself many moons ago!

Bridal Prep

One of my favourite moments of the day was when I was photographing Emma getting ready at The Moat House. The small details photographed during bridal preparations create the foundation of a great story. I always tell my couples that prep photography isn’t all about the make up being applied, but looking for those special moments as the excitement builds. It was great to work with two familiar suppliers: Jenna Dale was on hand for Make up and Gemma from Dream Bridal Hair was styling the ladies locks.

I was also great to catch up with Joe and his guys before the ceremony as he nervously got ready for the day ahead.

Wedding ceremony at The Moat House

The Moat House has two rooms available for wedding ceremonies. Upstairs in the old building there is the Colin Lewis suite, perfect for smaller weddings and those wanting some more traditional features. Downstairs there is the larger Acton suite which is more modern and flooded with natural light. Emma and Joe chose to tie the knot in the Acton suite.

After the ceremony it was time for he couple to greet their guests and have a mingle. It was a warm summers day so everyone was able to enjoy the grounds and relax next to the canal.

The Moat House offers lots of possibilities for wedding photography. As the sun was so strong I decided to shoot most of the couples portraits after dinner when the light was softer. I know a couple of great spots for evening portraits and we got some fantastic results.

Emma and Joe’s wedding was one to remember and I wish them all the best for the future.
