The Mill Barns wedding photography – Rhys and Leanne

As a regular photographer at both Pendrell Hall and The Ashes I was very excited to hear about their new sister venue The Mill Barns in Alverley, Shropshire.

When a devastating fire destroyed the old Mill Hotel site in 2015, it seemed the historic location had been lost for good. However, when the award winning team Ensarb Estates acquired the site, the Alverley venue was given a new lease of life.

Rebuilt from the ground up, The Mills Barns is now well positioned as a premier wedding venue in Shropshire.

Rhys and Leanne’s recent wedding was a beautiful opportunity to photograph this new location for the first time.

The day began, as usual, with photos of the wedding preparations. Leanne chose to getting ready in the dedicated prep room at Mills Barn, whilst Rhys was able to relax with his best man in one of many guest bedrooms.

Weddings at The Mill Barns

For the ceremony we moved to the Mill Wheel Barn, a large timber beamed room with waterside views and stunning natural light. All eyes were rightly on the gorgeous Leanne as she made her entrance down the aisle to Rhys, who was waiting nervously.

There was some rain on the day but at a venue like The Mills Barn, that’s not something to worry about. With so much space and natural light inside there are plenty of opportunity for indoor photographs.

Happily, the skies cleared and we were able to nip outside for a few photographs amongst the vast grounds. With 8 acres of landscaped gardens and ponds, there’s certainly plenty of great shots to be had.

Jenkinsons Caterers

Leanne and Rhys then made their way into the Mill Pond Barn for the wedding breakfast. They chose the Jenkinsons Caterers popular option of ‘Host the Roast’. This is where a nominated guest on each table carves the joint of meat for the other guests. Silly aprons and chefs’ hats only added to the fun!

Speeches followed the wedding breakfast and before long it was time for the couples’ first dance. All in all, a great day at a new location with a beautiful couple!
