Coton House Farm wedding Photographer – Rachel and Mitch

Rachel and Mitch booked me for their wedding at Coton House Farm last year. I’ve worked at the venue before but it was many years ago and I was amazed at how much the venue had changed and vastly improved for the better. When I first worked there the venue was basically a marquee in a field with no facility for getting ready or holding the ceremony there. Well, all that as changed and the venue now has a fantastic room for the couple to get ready and a lovely rustic barn to hold the ceremony.

Located just outside Lichfield Coton House Fram is conveniently located and nestled deep within the Staffordshire countryside. With beautiful views all around this is a genuine rustic barn venue. Couples have the option to hold their ceremony in The Old Dairy Barn, which is a very charming almost church like barn due to its shape, or they can opt for an outdoor ceremony at The Pagoda.

Relaxed wedding photography at Coton House Farm

Rachel and Mitch wanted a relaxed, chilled out approach to their wedding photography, which is why they booked a documentary photographer like myself. Most of my time is spend capturing natural moments rather than setting up too many formals or asking people to say cheese. This worked out really well because the couples families had arranged a couple of surprises and it was great to capture the couples surprise.

The first was a ride on a spectacular horse drawn cart after the wedding ceremony. However the main surprise was waiting for when they returned. The couple have a horse called Egg and the family had arranged for Egg to be waiting for the couple when they returned. Now you might be forgiven for expecting Rachel to be the most emotional when she saw Egg at the wedding, but in fact it was big 6 foot Mitch who was the first to well up! But of course if you can’t show emotion on your wedding day when can you.

Once the guests had said goodbye to Egg it was time to enjoy some drinks on the terrance and do some photos. Coton House Farm is great for wedding photography due to the countryside views and rustic feel of the grounds. The venue definitely suits relaxed couples wanting natural photos over a very formal approach.

In the evening there was a great location for a couple of night photos before it was time to hit the dance floor and get ready for the first dance.

It was great to return to Coton House Fram and see the fantastic transformation the venue has taken over the years. Rachel and Mitch were a fantastic couple to work with and I with them, and Egg, all the best for the future.
