A shot I love from Jemma and Richards wedding

You’ve probably already seen this shot on Jemma and Richards Pendrell hall wedding blog but I wanted to talk about it a bit more and explain why for me its a very important shot.

Some styles of wedding photography means the photographer wouldn’t look for a shot like this but with my style being about capturing real moments and interactions between people this is the type of shot I’m always looking for. To enable me to capture shots like this I have to work fairly close but also be very discreet as to not disturb the moment and be an interruption… Unfortunately I’m not trained in the stealth tactics of a Ninja so instead I use smaller, lighter and quieter camera for these parts of the day.. the days of thinking the biggest camera is the best are far behind me!

So what do I love about this shot.. well just look at it.. this is a tender moment between the bride and the grooms grandmother. I think its wonderful thoughtful that Jemma took the time out from the excitement of her wedding day to sit, chat and hold hands with this special lady. I think this is a very powerful moment and I believe this photograph will be treasured by the family.

These kind of shots also really work in black and white.. black and white seems to show the humanity of a moment, whenever I see black and white I see the emotion more.
