A shot I love from Jessica and Olivers wedding

A shot I love from a Shropshire wedding

Here we have the stunning moment when the father gives his daughters hand to her husband to be. some would say this is a very traditional moment and it doesn’t always happen at modern weddings but, as a father myself, I think this is an important moment as its showing the trust the father has in his daughters husband, that he will keep him safe and care for her the way her father has. And, as a dad myself, one thing that must go through the fathers mind is that this is the last time his daughter will have the same surname as him. It must be a proud moment but also a little sad for that reason?

This photograph isn’t the actual moment of passing the hand but the moment that happened when Jess’ dad gave her a kiss at the alter. Its a beautiful moment and I can say jess’ dad was extremely proud of his daughter as I noticed him throughout the ceremony engrossed in the happiest day of his daughters life. You can see Oliver is looking a little nervous about the ceremony ahead!

There isn’t really a lot more I can say about this picture, I love it for its simplicity, the lighting which was unusually good at the front of the church and I like how I selected a wide focal length to show some context in the image. But most of all what I love about this shot is it is a real moment captured. These photographs are the ones that become more important and symbolic with time. As a wedding photographer who looks to capture emotion and preserve memories this is the sort of shot i really love most.

I’ll post Jess and Olivers full wedding blog up soon.
