Sarah Chris’ Prestwold Hall wedding

One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is the variety from one wedding to another. And one of the best ways to get the creative juices flowing is to work at a venue you’ve never worked at before. Prestwold Hall is an amazing venue that I’ve been eager to work at for a couple of years, but the opportunity had never arisen. So it’s no surprise I was absolutely made up when Sarah and Chris booked me for their wedding.

Prestwold Hall is a huge and very prestigious stately home in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The house itself is a remarkably well maintained neoclassical building situated on acres of well kept gardens. There are countless opportunities for wedding photos and it is not hard to see why this stunning wedding venue is so popular.

Sarah prepared herself early in the morning in the bridal suite at Prestwold Hall. She had an absolute room full of super excited bridesmaids to help her. Chris was also getting ready at Prestwold so I was able to capture a few shot of him and his guys too.

When sarah was ready her dad came to collect her and proudly walk her down the aisle. The ceremony to place in the library at Prestwold Hall. It certainly was emotionally charged with plenty of laughter and tears from both bride and groom! There were readings from the couples close friends and a real warm feeling to the ceremony.

Following the ceremony guests made their way outside to the enjoy the beautiful sunshine and gardens surrounding the venue. Sarah and Chris had really gone to town preparing lawn games. I think this is a great idea, it gives guests something to do during the drinks reception and they make great photos.

It was a bright and sunny summers day so I decided to wait until after the meal to do the couples photos. On very bright days it’s better to wait for the softer evening light as it is less harsh than during the peak of the day. As you can imagine, there are countless opportunities for wedding photos at Prestwold Hall.

As the evening drew in it was time for the first dance so Sarah and Chris took to the dance floor. Whist the first dance was wonderful it was what happened next that grabbed my attention. The couple pulled out a “shotski”. I’ve never seen one of these before but it was a ski with holes cut for shot glasses. 4 people line up and tip the ski together all taking a shot. It was absolutely brilliant and the perfect way to end the day.
