A shot I love from the relaxed farm wedding of Sarah and Rob

Farm wedding photographer Staffordshire

So heres another quick blog in the series about a shot I took at a recent wedding and why I love it. This week I’m posting a shot from Sarah and Robs farm wedding which I shot in August. The full blog will follow soon but this little taster should give you an insight of whats to come.

So lets talk about this shot… it had been a hot summers day in Derbyshire, Sarah and Rob had a church service first followed by a reception at Sarah’s folks farm. As it was such a hot sunny day I made the decision to shoot the couples portraits after the meal before the evening entertainment started, this way it was a little cooler and the light was a little softer. We nipped into a nearby village in Derbyshire to shoot by a river and bridge, but this shot was back at the farm itself. We were just driving up the driveway and I spotted the scene with the sun and the way the light was reflecting through the clouds.

There were a few different shots I took but what I had learnt worked best for Sarah and Rob was a very natural shot with minimal posing, so I simply asked them to walk holding hands and chat about their wedding day so far.

So what do I love about it? I think the simplicity of the shot is what does it for me. Sometimes as a wedding photographer you can try to go too complicated but this shot is a simple silhouette but tells a great story, bride and groom walking hand in hand on their wedding day lit by the gorgeous evening sun. You can see they are relaxed and happy to be heading back to their farm wedding.

Hopefully this shot hits the spot for you too and if you’re planning a wedidng on a farm or anywhere else please let me know and lets talk about your photography.
